Instrumentation and sensors

Measuring Fruit Quality

HortResearch designs and develops commercial measurement systems for quantifying physiological properties of fruit such as:

  • Colour
  • Maturity
  • Dry Matter
  • Density.

Our expertise ranges from fundamental research through proof of concept and full prototyping capability.

We work with partners in the fruit packing, processing, distribution, and sales industries to produce solutions for commercial advantage.

Analytical Instruments

We have patented enabling technologies suitable for use in analytical instruments. These technologies can be used to measure the concentration of:

  • Organophosphates
  • Pesticides
  • Small phenols
  • Hormones
  • Antibiotics.

These technologies are available for license, and we also work with partners to develop new sensors for specific compounds of interest and/or device formats.
