Plant biotechnology

We use our unique germplasm collection and genomics platform to pursue research and commercial goals in the following areas:

• Fruit crops that are disease and pest resistant
• Residue-free fruit
• Development of specific fruit traits such as improved colours, textures and nutritional profiles
• Environmental impacts of genomic technologies
• Fruit and plant based flavours, metabolites and production systems
• Plant transformation systems both for in-house and for clients use.

These areas provide support primarily for our other programmes, but we do partner with other researchers and companies as well.
