Hormones

Science programme: Human health and performance

This research aims to develop new technologies to measure and understand hormones for medical and health benefits. A key goal is to move from obtaining ‘shapshot’ data of hormonal levels to ‘video sequence’ data in order to better understand how hormone dynamics influence health and performance. Another important objective is to understand the changes that occur with aging and how these may be naturally enhanced to maintain strength and health.

Research performed to date with a prototype device that measures hormone levels non-invasively has demonstrated that this data has value in guiding training programmes for elite athletes.
