- Information packs are available for each position advertised, providing information about HortResearch, the main functions of the position and the skills required.

- Please advise the names and contact details of two recent referees who can substantiate your suitability for this position. In most instances we will only contact the referees of people we interview. We will let you know when we plan to contact your referees.

- After applications close a short list of candidates, usually four or five, will be selected for interview based on the information contained in the applications. Shortlisting usually takes place within one week of the closing date. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by telephone to arrange an interview time. For this reason we request two contact telephone numbers.
- Interviews are normally held within two weeks of the closing date during working hours. The selection panel is made up of three or four people.
- Interviews give you the opportunity to tell the selection panel how well your skills, experience and qualifications match those required for the position.

- At the interview a general salary range for the position will be indicated. A precise starting salary will be discussed only when an offer of employment is made.
- The successful candidate will be offered the position as soon as possible after the interview, by telephone. After discussion a formal offer of employment will be made in writing.
- All unsuccessful candidates will be advised in writing after the appointment has been confirmed. This is usually within one month of the close-off date or within one week of the interview. Unless you request otherwise, your CV will be destroyed.
