The Willow and Poplar Research Collective (WPRC), formerly known as the Plant Materials Research Collective, is a grouping of regional and district councils involved in land management and flood protection with an interest in the use of poplar and willows for these purposes.

The WPRC was formed to support poplar and willow work in the following areas:

  1. Maintenance and development of willow and poplar genetic resources;
  2. Development of improved management regimes;
  3. Information transfer through applied research, meetings, workshops and hard copy material.

The WPRC is a key stakeholder in central government funded research on soil conservation plants and provides additional funding for projects of topical interest to the collective.
